Dawna Pettipas, CPA, CGA
Senior Director of Finance/CFO
I proudly serve as the Director of Finance at SSBC. I have extensive experience in financial management, operations, and general management, I've had the privilege of contributing to the growth and success of various high-growth companies.
In my current role, I lead the Finance Division, where I oversee a range of critical functions, including financial management, accounting, investor relations, international operations, and acquisitions. It's a dynamic and challenging position that I thrive in, and I'm dedicated to ensuring SSBC's financial health and strategic growth.
My journey in finance began with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from St. Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. To further hone my expertise, I became a Certified General Accountant (CPA, CGA), solidifying my commitment to excellence in financial leadership.
Beyond my professional endeavors, I've often been told that I'm the funniest accountant one could ever meet, and I certainly don't mind wearing that badge of honor. Laughter is a universal language, and I believe it's a key ingredient to a successful work environment.
Music has always held a special place in my heart. I've dabbled in various musical pursuits, from performing in several musicals to playing the fife in a marching band. One memorable experience was the opportunity to play the clarinet at Juilliard in New York City during my high school years as part of the school band. Music has taught me discipline, creativity, and the joy of self-expression.
The greatest joy in my life is being a mom to my incredible son. He's not only inherited my sense of humor but also my love for numbers. I couldn't be prouder of the young man he's becoming, and I cherish every moment we share, whether it's cracking jokes or solving math problems together.
